Equestrian Individual Photos –  Horse and Rider Portrait

While visiting family and friends in Alberta this July, I had the joy of photographing one of my oldest and dearest friends, Ellian, someone I’ve been lucky to call a friend for over seventeen years.

Her love for horses began back in high school when she first started riding. That spark turned into a calling, and today she’s a veterinary technician at a rural clinic—with a beautiful horse of her own named Picasso.

We spent the evening in the quiet of the fields—just Ellian, Picasso, and me—chasing golden light. As I photographed, I learned a little about horse behavior, and enjoyed learning how best to photograph both Ellian and horses. Picasso was gentle, patient, and full of personality and I think that their bond shone through!

This equestrian portrait session was such a special experience. I would absolutely love to do another horse and rider portrait session at home in the Greensboro Lake Oconee area!
